A CONVERSATION AROUND “I DIE DAILY”
A CONVERSATION AROUND “I DIE DAILY”
You were explaining that we have to die to d flesh and that’s why Paul said He die daily, but no, that was not what Paul was saying.
1Cor. 15:31
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Now from verse 1 we saw that Paul was instructing d Corinthians church about d gospel of Christ, d basis of d Gospel should not be forgotten because that was what was preached to them and by it they were saved.
He explained d Gospel which is Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again according to d scriptures.
And that many Apostles bore witness of Christ being alive in d flesh after his resurrection.
And was seen of him too
Then we could denote that in verse 12, he heard that people were preaching heresies, which is that some people said there is no resurrection of d dead.
So Paul was putting a disclaimer on such teachings. He bastardized such teachings by proving convincingly why there must be resurrection of d dead since Christ was raised from death.
That means if it is a lie that Christ didn't rise from d dead then Christianity is a scam.
This was what Paul was guarding jealously
So he explained how we got death from Adam and now we were made alive in CHRIST.
And that death will be d last enemy to be destroyed. Which means God opposes death everywhere. There is no place death and God collide together, God does not use his enemies and death is an enemy of God that will soon be destroyed.
Then explained further why those things taught are wrong.
D heresies was that there is no resurrection of d dead, so Paul was explaining why it is wrong and how it can never be correct, or else his preaching is vain.
That teaching is against Christianity and against d gospel.
Paul was someone who went through serious persecutions for d gospel of Christ to spread throughout d world.
These ppl could die for d gospel.
So Paul was saying in verse 30 that “why are we standing in jeopardy every hour if there is no resurrection of d dead?”
“Why are we putting our live at stake just to make sure that d gospel reach everywhere if there is no resurrection of d dead?”
That was why he further explained in d next verse where u quoted that “I die daily.”
It's actually a bad translation by KJV.
It's actually supposed to be "I face death daily."
Lemme show d same verse in amplified
30 AMP: [For that matter], why do I live [dangerously as I do, running such risks that I am] in peril every hour? 31 [I assure you] by the pride which I have in you in [your fellowship and union with] Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily [I FACE DEATH EVERY DAY and die to self]. 32 KJV: If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.
U can see verse 30, he mentioned living dangerously just to preach.
And in verse 32 he claimed to have fought with beasts, meaning those persecutors.
Context is King sir.
Pre text + Post Text = Context.
Paul was saying he faced the threat of death every day and faces persecutions every single day for the sake of the gospel of Christ just to make sure it spreads to the world and more men are saved by it.
So verse 30 and verse 32 explained what verse 31 was saying when Paul said he die daily, that means he faces death threats daily just to preach d gospel, and some ppl are now saying there is no resurrection of d dead?
Really??? That's annoying!
Matt. 10
27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that PREACH ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
I guess Paul was obeying Jesus when Jesus was saying we should not fear d persecutors that can kill just d body but we should fear sin that can destroy people in hell, hence in d face of being killed, Paul was risking his life daily for d gospel that has power to save when preached to unbelievers, and yet some ppl are bastardizing it by saying there is no resurrection of dead.
Are we supposed to die to flesh?
Absolutely!
There are many other places that can be quoted to back it up even in that
Ephesians we read.
But that place is absolutely not the right text to use or quote for dying to flesh.
Lemme drop some before I stop writing
Romans 6
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Gal. 5:16-17
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Finally, Eph. 4
22 That ye PUT OFF concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye PUT ON the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
I have more but that should do.
I did that because I've been taught that if I discard a verse quoted out of context for a correct point, I must not correct d verse and water down d point, hence I have to make sure I present many other verses that defend d point and in context.
Thank you for your time sir.
I hope this has blessed you sir!
