THE AUTHORITY OF A BELIEVER
(Final part)
Authority in itself is not when you have power, it’s when you can control power whichever way you desire. It is until you know your God that you can do exploits (Dan.11:32), it’s a gradual process like I said earlier, the more you keep knowing more of God, the more exploits you do. Also you must note that knowledge is the basis at which believers’ authority is built on, when you don’t know you carry fire, you will be fired, in fact, when God created man, He told him to dominate and take charge of every other creatures (Gen.1:28). Taking authority should be a normal thing for our life in every situation but the issue is our low or stunted spiritual growth, we have refused to grow to the understanding of the authority we possess as we carry Christ in us. Deep secrets of God always call for deeper secrets, More of God calls for more of Him. The good news here is that ‘the sovereignty of God has given us the ability to take responsibility of growing into maturity to utilize our authority.’ It’s really a good news that the ability is there but we still not know. The creatures are earnestly waiting for our manifestation, yearning for how we will use our authority to help them, you have been given authority to silent the devil, heal the sick and basically go into the word and make disciples from all nations (Matt.28:18-20). Start building your spirit-man from now, feed him with the word of God and prayer. Let him grow into maturity and you will see yourself working in the realm you less expected naturally. It is after knowing the power and authority in you that you can have faith, you can’t have faith in what you don’t know, it is that faith that gives boldness to decree anything being sure that with knowledge and faith, it will be established. Prayer plays a vital role in exercising the believers’ authority, if you are not hot in prayer, you will surely get hurt, pray so as not to become a prey, through prayer we take authority, and through prayer we don’t misuse the authority because (1Cor.2:16) we have the mind of God and knows what He wants concerning some situations that need to be attended to. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous (believer) avails much or has great effects (Jam.5:16), just as Elijah prayed to control the rain, anything we ask God will be done for us according to God’s will. Confession also matters, it shows our level of faith and boldness that you know your authority and has been settled in prayer. Finally you need to patiently wait for God to take charge in His own appointed time, if you pray on something and it didn’t work immediately, it doesn’t mean that God didn’t answer, it means that it has an appointed time (Hab.2:3), just be patient with God. Strong faith and patience works together (Heb.6:12) you must anxiously wait patiently for God to act as the strong men of faith of the old did. Brethren, this is a clarion call for us in this dispensation of time to take up responsibility to grow into maturity, because maturity brings about authority. Start exercising your authority now because God is opening your eyes of understanding to the authority that dwells in a believer. Don’t give the devil a little chance to exploit you, don’t be gentle with him at all because when you are too gentle, you can end up in a kettle. Your relationship with God should not be casual, also don’t take the devil casually so that it won’t end you in casualty. You have to stand up and claim your right, you must know your right so as not to become a rat, He who live in us is greater than the one in the world, you have God’s life in you hence you have His authority in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah! Remain in-Charge. NCCF BIBLE STUDY UNIT
