PURPOSE DISTRACTION BY AKINBOYO OLUWAFISAYOMI
Purpose is not one thing, it's all things in one, it's a volume of what God want you to achieve.
Your purpose in life is Encompassing, voluminous yet specific, it's what God has written and designed you to achieve in life basically. Your discovery of purpose starts with knowing God, having an intimate relationship with him and following his directions.
Distraction is anything preventing us from giving our full attention to a task or goal.
A purpose distraction will take you off course and make it impossible to keep your mind on your goal.
We find our purpose in relation to the creator who created us, each in different ways. We are created to fulfil a particular purpose on earth, no one is born empty. We are all purposeful but there's always a distraction to every purpose to divert our attention and our focus. Many of us miss it today because we allowed what we want to take away what we need and what God wants for and from us.
Distraction can be anyone or anything, it could be the love of money and other material things, and it could be the opposite sex, friends, enemies, hobbies, career, siblings and even parents.
When I was a teenager, my distraction was the opposite sex, I wanted to love and be loved, I wanted a relationship forgetting what God wants for me. Yours might be something else, but whatever it is, you have to kill it now before it kills you later!
For Solomon, his distraction was the opposite sex too, he loved women so much. He had everything in abundance but ended up with nothing (everything God gave him was taken away from him) because his attention was diverted by creatures from the creator and what he was created for. (1kings 11:11)
Most times our distractions come from what and who we love and that's what the devil does, he uses what you love to bring you down and destroy you.
I'm not saying these things are bad, but when they begin to take away your love for God, your purpose in life, your visions and goals, your calling, you need to watch out and adjust, God is not interested in seeing you fail.
The devil wanted to distract Jesus from fulfilling his purpose on earth, but he didnt succeed. It takes God Himself to call one out of distractions.
As Christians, we have a general purpose which is to bring souls to the kingdom, (1Peter 2:9) but many are not fulfilling this purpose because their attention/focus has been diverted into something else.
When you allow purpose distractions to distract you, you may end up contributing to making the grave the richest place.
...to be continued.
