THE BEST AND GREATEST AVENGER (2nd part) by Awotiku Akinlayo David

Continuation...
There are many other super heroes that portray this same purpose in their respective movies, I would like to stop here. In a nutshell, my focal point is their defensive and attacking weapons used in fighting, defending themselves and the cities and conquering the enemies.
Meanwhile I have the news of the best of them all, it gladdens my heart to introduce you to the one who used ordinary human flesh to defeat the most powerful enemy you can ever come across, and He used the human body as a defeating weapon to fight against the ruler and controller of this world. He used this simple fleshy material to conquer cosmos because Bible testified that ‘In Him was life and the life was the light of men. (And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not’ John 1:4-5.) He couldn’t use any better weapon except this small, unidentified, unprofessional, unrecognized and unimagined weapon to face the devil, fight, destroyed, win, conquered and victorious at last. He is no other person than our savior and messiah ‘Jesus Christ’.
Let us quickly do a review of a story from the Old Testament which serves as a pointer to this tremendous victory of Christ over the devil. 1Samuel 17:1-57; the story of my bestie in the O.T. His name ‘David’ with that so-called Incredible Hulk ‘Goliath’. During the days when Goliath was bragging and defying the army of God which is the Israelites. According to Verses 4-6. The bible made us understand how Goliath had all qualifications and the characteristics of a trained warrior, he had the best stature, the best weapon, the best shield and a great warrior’s C.V. David in himself was just a shepherd boy who was trained indirectly and unconsciously by God in secret. He was not conscious of the type of training God is making him pass through, rather his main focus was keeping his sheep safe. Protecting and defending the sheep from wild animals was the greatest priority of his life.
The day came when the end of this fumbled heathen was signed and approved, he bragged as he always did while David was there, fear gripped everyone in the Israel army camp except David. The insulting words proceeding out of Goliath’s mouth sounded appalling to David’s hearing which vexed David’s spirit man and he decided to write Goliath’s death note immediately. He got furious and found out what will be given to whosoever faces and defeats this Soldier. God’s secret training became clearer to his thought and hence orchestrated a boldness and courage to face this heathen (Verse 32).
Saul saw a kid, small handsome boy, a shepherd, an untrained civilian who has never fought any war before in his life but when David presented his C.V. before Saul (Verse 34-37) because he saw himself as a giant man of God, a trained shepherd, a profound protector and a brilliant and wise guardian and defender. So Saul consented with him and decided to let him go and face Goliath. Now take note of Saul’s statement in verse 37(Verse 34-37) And Saul said to David, "Go, and the Lord be with you!" but yet he girded David with lots of armors and weapons from the Israelites’ arsenal. The question is ‘what other thing can be added to the presence of the Lord with him? Selah!
