ADDRESSING A
QUESTION
From Bro Enoch:
Good morning Beloved
I have an issue that's been
a burden in my heart, am a lover of the Lord,
I also love rap music a lot, but then I only listen to, sing, and write
Rap songs that focus on God and his word. My question here is this. Is Gospel Rap acceptable in the house of God?
God bless you as you
respond according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Love y'all
From Akinwole: From my perspective: Everything
should be done to the glory of God. Thanks be to God because you said "it
focus on God and His word". And
that's just it. However, there has been any controversy as regards the kind(s) of
music acceptable in the house of God.
The reason is not far-fetched because the world has taken a lot of
advantage of most of the musical genres
Most churches believes that if it is not worship songs and praises, then it is not accepted. If this idea is as a
result of personal conviction, then it should remain personal.
I want to submit that no
genres of music (rap, reggae, blues,
Gospel, hip hop, classical,
contemporary e.t. c) is unacceptable
in as they are to the glory of God.
I also want to say that
the word house of God is not only the sanctuary or beautiful edifice but also
Gods temple which is our heart. So if the spirit which does guide His people
into all truth dwell richly in you, then you will be led aright. Like I always
tell myself “Akin be careful lest you do things that does not conform with God’s
will.” I want to implore you bro, be careful when doing your rap songs lest you
get entangled in what is not about the ordinances of the kingdom of God.
Kind regards
From the Admin: Good
evening house.
I want to quickly chip
in some things about this Bro Enoch's question.
From the construction of
d question, I may say that d explanation didn't end with d right question.
I think it is not 'Is gospel rap acceptable in d house of God'
Instead its supposed to
be 'Should gospel rap be accepted in d
house of God?' Or 'is it right to bring gospel rap into the house of God?'
However I will answer everything together.
Some house of God accept
it while some don't because they believe d style is worldly.
Rock, roll, raps,
blues, jazz, funk, etc, these are music genres that are from outside d
country
However, here in naija,
we have genres like Fuji, alujo, akpala, worro, and d likes
D question I will ask is
this:
Has any genre on its own
blessed u before?
Genres are useless
except some lyrics are fit into it.
So my brother here is
it,
When u seem good in a
genre of music and it seems as if churches are against it, dont do it in
unacceptable churches so as not to affect their level of believe,
It is advisable to just
let it be so that u won't cause division among believers
However, u can go to
studio, write ur lyrics, perfectly arranged and inspiring.
Pay d studio manager and
produce ur song when u feel like.
Organize series of
gospel rap concerts and invite people to attend.
When they keenly study
ur lyrics they will be blessed irrespective of its original genre
Normally it is not wrong
to do gospel rap, as a matter of fact I have my own composed gospel raps
U don't understand?
If rap is not acceptable
in d church, then funk and blues, alujo etc should not be acceptable.
Has anyone told u that
most our worship songs are subjected under d genre called blues?
All style or genres of
music should be accepted in d church if d lyrics are spirit filled and
powerfully inspiring
Tye Tribbett, Kierra
Sheard, Kim Burrell, Michael Smith, Tasha Cobbs and many more white gospel
musicians sings in virtually all d genres of music and yet their songs are
blessings all over d earth
Come to naija
Tope Alabi and Sewenle
Jesu sings makossa and Fuji as well as Mike Abdul.
All that matters in The LYRICS
THE LYRICS
How spiritually potent is it?
But instead of listening
to d circular people's rap as u are indirectly catching their lyrics into ur
head
Its advisable u just go
for d gospel artists who sing gospel raps as I have mentioned some of them
above.
God invented those
styles of music, input d talents on individual just to make music more
interesting, different and unique on its own.
So if God has input d talent of composing gospel rap songs, my
brother go for it, don't care on what anyone say about it.
It better to do God's purpose in d best way u can and people
complains than to try something else so as to please people.
I rest my case here.
Thank you saints
I call u blessed
I love y'all
