STOP PURSUING JARA (EXTRA)

A man told a story of the old times he goes to market to buy Gaari (Cassava Flakes) and how he would fight the person for a compulsory Jara (extra). He would threaten to return the rest if the seller will not add Jara (extra) to his satisfaction.
It is a pity that many of us are desperately pursuing God’s Jara. We chase after those things that should be added unto us, we are anxious after what to eat, drink, wear and shelter when God said they are just Jara when we seek first the right thing.

We sometimes fight God when we can’t really see the extras, we want to get everything on earth so that we can live conveniently. We sometimes threaten to stop following God if He chooses not to provide what we want as at when due. Materialistic things have engrossed our mind hence by the virtue of anxiety of these things, we are motivated to seek God more.

The Bible is so clear in Matthew 6:31-33. – "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” [NKJV]
God is aware we need all those things so He can’t just withhold them from us, what He’ll love us to do is seeking first His kingdom and its righteousness. What is the essence of having all earthly riches when the kingdom of God is missing in you? What is the essence of having every material things on earth when the kingdom of God’s righteousness is not imputed in you? What is the benefit of looking for more of financial blessing when the spiritual blessings in you are yet to be mined out? What is the benefit of living fine physically when you are wretched spiritually? What is the advantage of getting all good things the world has to offer when you are not aware of the fullness of good God in you?

Mark 4:11a – ‘And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; [NKJV]’ "You've been given insight into God's kingdom — you know how it works. [THE MESSAGE] We’ve been given to such a great insight but it is a pity that many are still ignorant of this, instead of searching to know more of God, they search to get more earthly riches. How do you intend to preach about the kingdom of God when you are yet to unravel the mysteries therein? Why have you so depended on searching for earthly riches instead of drilling deeper into the heavenly mysteries? Have you forgotten that the kingdom of God is the main reason for living and we live abundantly while the earthly riches are just Jara (extra)?

Let me show you what the kingdom of God entails in Romans 14:17 – ‘for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. [NKJV]’ Be aware that seeking meat and drink will not give us permission or make us convenient to seek the kingdom of God instead seeking God’s kingdom will bring about riches as additional, as bonus or as Jara (extra).
Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost, that is the kingdom of God, you’ve got to bring it out from within and show it to the world, you’ve got to fan it into flame. A natural man cannot host this kingdom of God but a supernatural man is conscious of Him. How many of us can seek the kingdom of God as if nothing shall be added unto it? How many can seek more of God as if there is no Jara (extra)?

Many thought they are really seeking the kingdom of God when they are actually seeking Him to be qualified to get the Jara (extra) afterward. That’s why you hear some comments or reactions towards God: ‘I served you God with all I my heart, why are these challenges happening to me?’ ‘I pray continuously, I pay my tithe regularly, I fast and pray frequently, I often attend church programs. I do good deeds and I love my neighbors as myself, but why are you not blessing me enough? Why am I not financially buoyant? Why am I still suffering?’ My brother, if that is your mindset towards seeking the kingdom of God, then I am categorically telling you that you are only seeking Jara (extras) by trying to bribe God with religious activities.

Philippians 3:8 – ‘Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ. [NKJV]’ Paul was a very successful man when it comes to qualifications that could fetch robust income but he disregarded everything and make it worthless just because they are nothing compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus.

When you use God to fulfil your dreams and pursue your goals to be great in life, you are yet to start seeking the kingdom of God. You can’t claim to be seeking the kingdom of God when you are expecting Jara (extras). How many of us can boldly declare to still keep serving God either rich or poor?

It is appalling that people do things to provoke God’s blessing yet claim they are seeking the kingdom of God. We sometimes wish to increase God’s love for us than others around. What a perverse, confusing and riches-conscious generation we are in!
1Corinthians 4:20 – ‘For the kingdom of God consists of and is based on not talk but power (moral power and excellence of soul). [AMP]’ The Kingdom of God is not just talking; it is living by God's power. [TLB]’ It is time to truly seek the kingdom of God as though nothing were promised to be added to it. It is time to drill out mysteries of the kingdom of God and live out God’s power and excellence soul.

Get thirst for heavenly mysteries. Get hungry to know more of His righteousness and naturally, everything will just fall in place for you. But care less for Jara, think less of Jara, pray less of Jara, don’t settle for Jara, don’t be anxious of Jara and don’t live for Jara. Learn of God, learn more of His mysteries, study more on His nature, go into deeper study on His righteousness and yearn to grow into His fullness. The Jara (extra) will automatically come to you.

Stop pursuing Jara today but seek God first and Jara will seek and pursue you till the end of days.
