GOD’S NATURE: THE SPIRIT PRODUCING SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Let's pray – ‘Our father we bless you for yet another time to be in your presence. We thank u for another new month in 2019. Lord we pray that as we study your nature u will reveal more of yourself to us tonight from your word in Jesus name we have prayed. AMENNNNNN’

Our topic tonight is 'The Spirit producing the spiritual gifts!' from the book of 1Cor. 12:1
AMP: Now about the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed.
We are focus on spiritual gifts this month especially the gift of speaking in tongues as requested by one of us on this platform.
But before we talk on the gifts, I want us to first know which spirit is the source of this gift? Whose spirit gives spiritual gifts and how does the spirit works? Where is the spirit from?
Now let's start from Genesis 1:1. Bible says 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.'
'God' here is 'Elohiym or Elohee' this is in plural form and this implies it should be ‘Gods’ instead of ‘God (Elohim)’ according to the original Greek bible.
Now let's checked verse 26 from the amplified version
AMP: God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness...
Can you see that?
This shows that God revealed himself to us in three different ways
As the Father
As the Son &
As the Spirit.
Now let's quickly move to John 1:1 that says 'In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God!'
Here it means everything about God is God.
His son is His word
His spirit is His power.
Despite the division of God into different personalities, yet the bible says he is one God.
Father is God
Jesus is still same God
Holy Spirit is also God.
1John 5:6-8 – ‘This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.’
Even for the fact that God have diversities of Himself yet He is a divinity. He is one that's y we came across Trinity!
Because they agree in one, they are not distinct by idea, they are just distinct by their works.
The father is invisible, Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God, while the Holy Spirit is the spirit and power of God.
Their words and works are one. They agree what to do because they are one.
John 16:13 – ‘Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.’
The spirit won't do anything on his own except what the Trinity has agreed to do.
One of them will not say any selfish thing except what the Trinity has agreed to say.
If u go through John 14:5-11 where the disciples were asking Jesus to show them father and Jesus' reply made them astonished,
Let’s pick a verse from there
From verse 9 Jesus said ..."he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;*..."
And from verse 11 Jesus also said "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me:"
From Jesus' prayers in John 17:21-23 – ‘That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one...
See how strong the Trinity's unity is!
I'm taking my time to explain this so that by the time we start talking about the diversity of spiritual gifts, u will know those things are for unity because God is united in Trinity. God cherished and wants unity at all cost among his people despite their differences in manifesting spiritual gifts according to his or her own administrative.
Now before going back to our opening verse, let's quickly go to Ephesians 4:4-5 & 11-13
And let’s see things that are in diversities yet with a mindset of unity.
Ephesians 4:4-6 – ‘There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Ephesians 4:11-13 – ‘And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till, we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:’
Please I want u to carefully read that chapter 4 from beginning till end, Paul gave an instance of the body, the eyes, d legs, d hand, each have different functions yet they are in one body, showing how high our unity should be.
If u hit ur leg on stone and feel pain, the whole body will react to it and feel the pain, d same with d eyes or any other part.
Likewise in Christianity life, in the church, ALL SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE GIVEN FOR UNITY OF FAITH THROUGH ONE SPIRIT.
They are coming from one spirit so they should bring about same unity that the spirit producing them has.
Look at that place carefully. IT HAS ONLY ONE PURPOSE: unto a perfect man not unto perfect men and to achieve this is a gradual process.
The more u are working your gifts, the more u are edifying yourself, the more you are edifying the church (which is the body of Christ) and the more we will keep growing unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.
At this juncture u should have been enlightened of the kind of Spirit we are dealing with, His works and His purpose for giving us these gifts.
Our opening verse said 'I would not have u ignorance of the spiritual gifts'.
I think we will have to stop here.
It’s possible we will be having a guest in our midst to speak to us on these spiritual gifts especially speaking in tongues. Just prepare your mind.
If u av not been speaking in tongues now, before we end this series, u will be imparted to speak in new tongues in Jesus name.

Let's pray – ‘Father we thank you for your word that reached us tonight, we pray that it will edify our spirit man and unleash the spiritual gifts u av imputed in us that we will start manifesting those gifts from now on in Jesus name we have prayed. AMENNNNNN’
