‘WHAT TO DO WITH THIS NEW YEAR – (Conclusion)’

Let's pray

Almighty God we ask that our hearts are flooded with light tonight and our mind is renewed and hence we conform to Christ in our actions and conducts as the word reach us tonight in Jesus name we pray AMEÑNNNNNNN

Last night we started an interesting topic:

WHAT TO DO WITH THE NEW YEAR.

We talked on people's New Year resolution, how they want to cut some ppl from their lives and d likes.

And we stated that if that's how many keep cutting ppl out, then I'm not sure any relationship can stand.

We talked about what u value in your mind, expectations, priorities and prayers.

We now focused on time management, 

How to make good use of opportunities to do God's desires, to talk about Christ and to preach gospel and d likes.

We looked at Eph. 5:15-16, we explained almost each of the words one after the other.

We talked about being careful and wise.

We made mention of how to maximize the use of the little time we have.

And more

We closed with the advice of not waiting for a second chance to do God's will. 

We should stop postponing things and act accordingly as the spirit of God leads

Hebrews 5:12-14

This is where I promise we will continue tonight.

12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

U are someone that loves postponing Bible teaching, Bible reading, prayers etc.

U just don't like spiritual exercises that much and so u will keep shifting it forward day by day

Yet u will be singing 'I want more of you Jesus'

From where?

From club house, from movies or from sport matches?

This is your year to sit up and start learning.

Some of u are even fond of missing church programs or coming late and leaving earlier...

It looks normal to your spiritual life to miss believers meeting yet u said u are a Christian and u love God.

Hmmmmmm…
U are still under d set of people who are always going to pastors to please pray for you, preach for you, counsel you and teach you.

U are at d same level since two years ago, u can't preach and teach Bible.

Ahhhhhh! U need flogging

U have become pastor's regular customer for after the service counselling, and u do take their time while they are supposed to be doing something else or counselling younger converts, those that just got born again recently.

But u are always d one who does not know anything but depends wholly on your pastor, u are always looking for them to pray for you anytime u had bad dream, u can't pray for yourself yet.

We can't recommend u to teach sound doctrine to a new convert.

We can't trust u to intercede for someone on your own.

We can't entrust life into your hands to take care of spiritually.

The same spiritual level u are last 5years or last one year is still d same level u are right now.

And u are now saying ehnnn u want to cut away some ppl who does not add value to your life...

Here yourself wella.

The same bad habit they saw u do some years ago is still in your hands and u don't see d need to outgrow such spiritual life!

What an unwise person u are?

And later u will say "ehnn I didn't attend church for a month and d church cannot even ask of me or check on me"

Oga park well and let's see front.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, you still need to be taught again.

U are just stagnant, no improvement.

You still dey spiritual kindergarten when we expect u to already be in University.

It's because u have wasted your time and u have been using time for irrelevant things, your priorities have been wrongly set and u think u can expect spiritual growth?

No ooo, it does not work that way

It's so annoying that some old members will suddenly stop coming to church because the church didn't ask of them when they saw their absence in church.

And when we now Meet them outside, u ask y they have not been coming, they will say u ppl are not caring about your members.

Oga u need to park well and let's see road joorrr

I know of this Indian famous actress, its either Katrina kaif or Priyanka Chopra who joined Islam just because her church members didn't come visiting her when her dad died.

This may not be correct as per d reason but matured Christians don't think this way.

Jesus said Go ye into all nations and teach and make disciples, do evangelism and witness to people.

Are u people?

No, u are just a person

What about others?

How do we reach out to them if our own known member is vexing because we didn't visit or call him/her?

When will we have time to reach out to others if we should always think about visiting or checking up on you per day?

U should grow up to d extent that u are asking about others with no expectation of being ask after.

Is someone learning something here?

U are not skilful at all when it comes to Bible things, when it comes to explaining Bible, u don't know anything.

You are a babe.

The word 'babe' is 'nepios' in the Greek, (used 14 times in the New Testament) it means an infant (minor); figuratively a simple minded person an immature Christian.

When we are supposed to see you walking in the spirit and u still walk in flesh frequently, u are still a babe.

U need to grow up.

Grow up!

D issue is what u give your time to, your priorities matter a lot.

While others are talking about how to do great exploits for God, 

How to heal d sick, raise d dead, do great miracles, walk in love, hand spiritual things on their own, preach the gospel and win more souls for God, train disciples in the way of the Lord

U are still comfortable where you are spiritually with the milk and u keep getting furious cause they don't ask of you.

This is a time to grow

This year u must be desperate to grow spiritually

D disadvantages of being a babes is worse than something else...

Devil will ride u ehn

U will always depend on others to hear from God for u

U will be tossed to and fro by different doctrines and u won't be matured enough to discern which messages are correct.

And many more disadvantages.

D worst part is u won't even be able to make disciples as Jesus instructed us in Matt. 28:19-20

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Make disciples means make Bible students, be professional in dividing the word of truth.

How can u make disciples when u yourself don't even know anything?

Paul to Timothy said something related to this

2Tim.2:1-2
Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

This is like 3 levels.

Paul to Timothy, 

Timothy to faithful men

Faithful men to others.

And these others must also be ready to teach others.

Say to yourself:

"This year 2020, my head must be CORRECT!"

This is the time to be serious with God

This year is the time to grow up spiritually.

This is d time to devote time for spiritual activities.

Make it your greatest priority

This is the time to learn and be trained to yield to the leading of the spirit of God in time.

Don't do early what u ought to have done later, and also do later what u ought to have done earlier.

Learn to listen to the spirit and be cleared before taking some steps over some things.

The Holy Spirit is always specific in His dealings with us, but many hardly spend enough time in prayers to be more convinced and clear.

Give yourself to prayer and fasting.

Pray and find specifically what the spirit of God wants u to do per time.

Don't assume this is what God wants u to do per time.

See an instance in Acts 16:6-10

6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Many might think sebi it's preaching they want to do, but the Holy Spirit is forbidding them.

In fact, if it's this dispensation of time, and someone is now giving an instruction by the spirit to not preach in somewhere, the way we will look at that person self, we will assume it must be devil talking or demons

But obviously it was d Holy Spirit, actually the Spirit didn't forbid them from preaching, He only forbid them of the place to preach so don't get the Holy Spirit wrong as well... He will never stop u from preaching.

Learn to find out the will of God in time.

It's really important.

Be very careful of the things attached to it in making decisions

Whatever requires fear, pain, pressure, anxiety, waste, avoiding shame, or trying to meet up...

I can assure you that it's not of God.

Fruit of the Spirit will always find expression in God's leading. The works of the flesh will find expression in disobedience.

Don't forget you will give account of your time.

Those times God gave you, those opportunities God gave u especially in 2020.

Who u preached to?

How u have used your time to prosper the gospel

D disciples u have led

How you gave heed to those who rule over you, those who trains you in Christ.

Heb.13:7

How you have given time to Spiritual growth.

You will sure give account of these things before God.

Some will even say 'ehn I've given people my enough time, lemme have time for myself as well'

Then u have not known what you are into, u have not counted your cost before planning to follow Christ.

Human nature is selfishness.

Selfishness is a coin of the world but Christ centeredness is the currency of the kingdom of God.

Lemme just close this topic with some points to consider or rate high in maximising your time for this year 2020.

1.      Grow in the word. James 1:16-22.

Know the word

Desire the word of God every time 1Pet.2:2

Go for the word.

Learn the word more.

Get and buy books, buy Bible as well, get Bible concordances, get tapes, video messages, and audio messages of your pastor's previous messages, ask questions and surround yourself with God's word.

Don't miss believers meetings, teaching meetings etc.

Put God high in your mind. Prov.4:20-24

2.      Act on the word, do the word. James 1:22,

Be ye doers of the word and not just hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Deceiving yourselves is tantamount to knowing that u are no more a sinner and yet u still keep sinning, u are living your life anyhow.

U are comfortable without praying or studying the Bible in a day, u are deceiving yourself

U kept preaching something and u don't seem to manifest what u preach or teach, u are actually deceiving yourselves.

3.      Preach the word.

2Tim.4:2 Preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, correct, rebuke, exhort, instruct with all long-suffering or patience and teaching.

See, u can preach without doing the word but u can't do the word and not preach it. It's impossible...

Always stand for the gospel and defend the truth of the word of God.

Don't be ashamed of the gospel, don't feel shy to preach, don't be ashamed of living out the word of God.

4.      Have time for spiritual growth.

Create time for fellowship, for study, for prayers, and more personal spiritual exercises.

Set priority for time to build up spiritual life and be committed and devoted to it.

In Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

Obviously the apostles had prayer time.

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

When there was complain of some people getting food and some are not, they were not distracted by it.

They were also very devoted to prayers and ministry of the word.

They set priority right.

Heb. 10:24-25

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

U must be committed to your local church as well, don't even rate church meetings low and decided to intentionally miss church programs...

So it's also in two ways: 

U must fan to flame the gift of God in you which u received when they laid hands on you. 2Tim.1:6

Then u must also provoke love and good works among brethren.

It is very wrong to forsake the assembly of brethren.

IT IS A SIN.

5.      Have time to minister to others, disciples others.

Create time to preach and teach. Josh.1:8

6.      Renew your mind regularly. Rom.12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The word 'renewing' is the Greek word 'anakainoosei'

It means renovation, a total makeover of the way you think.

U have to renew your mind of some wrong things u have heard for long.

U need to unlearn many things.

See is another quote:

"We have preached condemnation and sin so long that we do not know how to preach righteousness and to tell the believers what they are IN CHRIST. When someone does tell them, they feel that it is false teaching. They feel that anything is FALSE TEACHING that does not honor sin and lift it into the place of Christ".

U need to renew your mind very well, with the correct word of God.

With sound doctrine.

Don't be too stiff necked to be corrected or renewed.

Give yourself to sound as doctrine and let it wipe out all the wrong messages that has stunk in your head for long.

And finally

7.      Be more committed to your local church.

Pastors also should be more committed to their flock, members should be more committed to the shepherd and as well to each other.

Be active in your local church, don't take your pastor for granted.

They are d ones who are watching over you spiritually, never think that u don't need to rate them high, no!

Bible says u must rate and esteem them VERY HIGH.

Be available in your local church, cherish the time spent there

Be more committed to it this year.

Brethren, let's put our life in order this new year.

2020 is another opportunity and it will never come back again.

NEVER

Once it's gone, it's really gone.

This is the time to build your Spiritual life more.

Time to leave d normal level you are and move to higher level of knowledge of Christ.

Increase your time of prayer, have time to pray.

At least an hour per day is not too small to pray per day.

Jesus said so in at the garden of Gethsemane.

Lemme tell u something, time will not always be available, in fact it won't be at all but once you set your priority right, then u will be able to create or squeeze time to pray and study per day.

Have a time for prayer this year.

Don't joke with your time ever.

Don't waste it on temporary, earthly and irrelevant things.

And let's see if your spiritual growth will not improve drastically at the end of this year.

Also let your WhatsApp status, or Facebook etc, let everything about you on social media, let them talk about Christ alone, let it bless lives and impact lives.

Lets pray

This year, we are committed to the spiritual growth, we are not tired, we are not fainting, we won't be silent or relent, and neither will we be lukewarm in Jesus name. I pray that everyone here beginning to have zeal for more of God, the Lord set a fire of his word in the heart of the reader in Jesus name. And at the end of this year, many would have grown beyond what they can think of, a level where they will be feeding on meat and not milk anymore. There discerning Spirit attains maturity in Jesus name. AMEÑNNNNN
